When Is This It Strokes revolutionized the world in 2001, no member of The Vaccines had more than 14 years. Freddie Cowan wore shirts of the band from New York and made a couple of years playing the guitar. Neither he nor anyone else knew that the group redefined the sound of the decade. Now 10 years later, amid a climate of recession and protests to the fruitful aroma eighties, England The Vaccines greets his group, as the band that opened a similar cyclical change. Can you handle that pressure?
By the title of their debut album, What did you expect from The Vaccines?, seems that had it. In December, the BBC were included in their witch Sound of 2011, the prediction of the three groups that are supposed to win this year. They were accompanied by Jessie J and James Blake, and the prophecy is fulfilled in all three cases. The Vaccines, a London quartet that met in school or in the neighborhood, sounding a bit like what we liked in recent years nothing. They're like if The Clash had moved to California and Phil Spector would have produced. Or as if the Strokes had given them to share evenings with Vampire Weekend. But most times, when you hear those themes short, easy, direct and somewhat chewy, you get the feeling that they have gotten song perfect.
